Quiet Calories — Terms of Use

Effective date: July 28, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Echo House Labs Inc. ("we", "us") governing your use of the Quiet Calories app ("the app"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. Your license

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and to the store's rules. For apps downloaded from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies and, where it conflicts with these Terms, governs.

2. Quiet Plus subscriptions and purchases

The app is free to use as a complete manual calorie and weight tracker. Quiet Plus is an optional paid upgrade offered as:

Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. The yearly subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You manage, cancel, or turn off renewal in your App Store or Google Play account settings — not through us; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals and you keep Quiet Plus until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, except where a refund is required by law.

The 14-day preview

Quiet Calories includes a 14-day preview of Quiet Plus that runs entirely inside the app. It requires no payment method, no account, and no sign-up. It is not a store free trial, it does not convert into a subscription, and there is nothing to cancel — nothing is ever charged unless you separately choose to buy. When the preview ends, Plus features lock, every free feature keeps working, and none of your data is removed.

3. Acceptable use

Use the app lawfully. Don't reverse-engineer, resell, or attempt to circumvent purchase or entitlement checks, and don't use the app in a way that harms the service or other users.

4. Not medical or nutritional advice

Quiet Calories is a tracking tool, not medical or nutritional advice. Echo House Labs Inc. is a software studio — not doctors, dietitians, or licensed health professionals. Calorie targets, energy-expenditure (TDEE) estimates, macro splits, and the nutrition figures shown — whether from the bundled USDA dataset, Open Food Facts, or your own entries — are approximations and may be inaccurate or incomplete.

Always talk to a qualified physician or dietitian before making decisions about your diet, weight, or health, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are managing an eating disorder.

Decisions about your body are yours to make. Quiet Calories is built to be calm and non-judgmental. If you're struggling with food or your relationship with eating, please reach out to a healthcare professional or a support line in your area. Your wellbeing matters more than any number in this app.

5. Your data and privacy

Quiet Calories is local-first; what you log stays on your device. There is no account and no server holding your food or health history. Anonymous Quiet Plus billing records are processed as described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

6. Third-party data

Nutrition data returned by barcode scans and Open Food Facts searches comes from Open Food Facts and is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL). It is contributed by that project's community, and we do not warrant its accuracy. Recipe imports read the page you point the app at, and that content belongs to whoever published it.

7. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Echo House Labs Inc. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Your data is yours to back up and export at any time; please keep your own backups.

9. Changes

We may update the app and these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes to the Terms, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights available to you where you live.
